Necessity

Why, at a certain point, could you not do otherwise?

It was not a choice. It imposed itself as a necessity.

A necessity to reconcile with the external world. With the body, with presence, with a form capable of standing before others without needing explanation.

I was not looking for images, but for presences. Something with weight, something that required time, something that did not need written or spoken translations, but could transmit emotion. Something that spoke to the soul, not to the mind.

In that moment, creation returned to being a simple and at the same time responsible act. Sculpture became the place where I could hold together what I felt and what I was able to offer to the world.
