The Coq de Beppe, sculpture by Roberto Tagliazucchi

The Coq de Beppe

France · bronze

Or inspiration may arise from everyday life, almost as a game.

This work was born from a completely chance encounter. I was in central France, visiting a friend of Italian origin. Together we went to the home of one of her friends, also Italian.

Suddenly, that calm was broken. Beppe’s wife burst into the room shouting: “Beppe, you have to kill that little rooster…”

I was struck by the rooster’s pride. He walked back and forth, majestic, unaware of the fate awaiting him.

It was at that moment that I decided. That posture could not be lost.

This is how The Coq de Beppe was born.
