Église Sainte-Marie-des-Peuples, Cergy-Pontoise – altar and ambo

Arch. Stanislas Fiszer · Commission: Chantier du Cardinal

For the creation of the altar and the ambo, I drew inspiration from Psalm 68:13, taking the biblical text as the symbolic and formal guide for the intervention. The project developed as a unified work, in which architecture, sculpture and decoration engage in a continuous dialogue.

I created the fresco on a formica support, designed and decorated the altar and the ambo, and modelled a small bronze Christ for the chapel. Each element was conceived in relation to the liturgical space, seeking a balance between function, symbol and presence, so that the work could accompany gesture and word over time.
